BIO-CAT is excited to award the 2024 Brian Huffman Memorial Scholarship to Cason Dulaney of Louisa County High School. Each year the scholarship committee reviews applications then selects and interviews candidates. This year BIO-CAT interviewed six candidates out of an amazing pool of 20+ applicants. Every year it becomes harder to choose our awardee!
Cason is one of the founders of the Lion Pride Community Service club – a group of students who donate hours of personal community service in Louisa. He was also chosen as the Senior Representative for the Blue Ridge Virginia Governor’s School Student Leadership Council. Along with school , volunteer activities, and working; Cason will finish his high school career with a 4.71 GPA. His plans include enrolling at the University of Virginia in the fall of 2024 with the goal of attending medical school after graduation.
As former neighbors, Cason has a personal connection to and fond memories of Brian. His hopes are to eventually give back to his community “in the same selfless way that Mr. Huffman did”.
Congratulations, Cason!
The Brian M. Huffman Memorial Scholarship was established in 2014 by BIO-CAT. Brian was a dedicated and instrumental employee from BIO-CAT’s founding in 1988 and embodied the spirit that anything was possible with hard work and perseverance. He also believed in “giving back” whenever one was able to. This $5,000 scholarship was created with that in mind; to give back to the students, give back to the community, ultimately giving back to build a better future, and to always do so in Brian’s memory.
